Extra day……

Well it’s leap year day once again and I can’t say I’ve done anything special to mark the day….except to chat on the ‘phone with DD and instruct her NOT to give birth to GS2 today! Life’s complicated enough without that sort of thing….it’s 20-30 now, so she’s only got one and a half hours NOT to have him 🙂 All in all it’s been a quiet but productive day…shopping list done, bird’s fed, rubbish out, dishwasher charged and meals cooked. I think talking to DD made all the difference….talking to someone you love is always good therapy! Which reminds me…I’ve also written an extra blog post today for Chloe’s food as therapy blog hop…see below and join in if you have any thoughts on the subject. 🙂

Food as therapy……

This is my first post for the FOOD AS THERAPY blog hop started by Chloe at Pea Green Pantry I just wanted to start by showing a food photo.

Pancake day complete with lemon, lime, strawberry jam and honey! YUM! DH and I prefer sweet pancakes to savoury and although they may not be healthy, the smell of the citrus fruit and the taste of the pancakes was EXTREMELY THERAPEUTIC!

Spring…..

DH has had a day out today, leaving me to my own devices. He is going to sample some real ales and then go on to the University for the BCS Turing lecture ‘The role of emotion in human decision making’ given by neuro-psychiatrist Ray Dolan from UCL. I just hope he doesn’t get asked to leave because of the volume of his snoring…rather him than me. No doubt I shall get a blow by blow account of it on his return 😦

I dropped him off at the station and then decided to spend some time in the garden tidying a few things up and refreshing the bird feeding station. The warm weather has brought out some of the bulbs, crocus were out last week and now the daffodils are beginning to open…..I thought a few photos would cheer us up on this warm but cloudy day. I also joined Mood Panda today, so you will be able to look in the right hand column to see how I rated. The house was really quiet and peaceful without DH but rather lonely, so I’ve just rated myself as neutral. ‘Night all! 🙂

Days drift by…..

Saturday 25th February
Not a good day today….listless and my thoughts running riot about things that I will never do and people I will never meet…settled at the laptop but only to go round and round in circles through the social websites…..other people are busy living their lives while I sit there afraid that time will run out and I won’t have had time to do…..what????????? Whole day in PPJs….so much for bathing yesterday!!!!!!!!! Made food for DH and I…rallied later because I knew I wanted to see DD, GS and DS on Sunday…………
MOOD = LOW

Sunday 26th February
Got up in time to have a bath, make sandwiches and get ready to go and see DD and family. Set off early only to get stuck in traffic on the motorway….took one and a half hours to get there instead of the usual twenty five minutes! I was driving, but I managed to keep calm and keep to the left, because I hadn’t got the bottle to race to the start of the queue like some people have! Any way, we had a really enjoyable afternoon with my family…DS arrived later…and drove home feeling much better 🙂 I even made the main meal we should have had yesterday and it was so much better being able to sit and eat a decent meal with DH.
MOOD = HIGH

Monday 27th February
Thank goodness today was another ‘normal’ day….got up and got dressed, unpacked some parcels, cooked meals and cleaned the kitchen…even the floor!!!! DS came for his tea and a shower after work (he’s doing some renovation on his victorian home and is doing the bathroom at the moment!) It was so good to have him around and have a chat. I must try to get to bed before midnight tonight, so I have a chance of enjoying tomorrow too 🙂
MOOD = HIGH

TGIF………

Well, that’s another week wasted….so many things to do and not one of them done! I don’t make ‘to do’ lists because they would be SO long that I would probably ‘recycle’ it half way through the first task!  In fact, the whole idea of finding a sheet of paper and a pen under the wreckage that is my room and then having to concentrate long enough to write them down would probably mean that the list was recycled before it was even finished. I can imagine the nightmare scenario of being on that game show on television where you had to watch a line of prizes going by on a conveyor belt and you won all those that you could remember……heated rollers, radio, food mixer, CUDDLY TOY, sun lounger, crystal chandelier, mop & bucket, CUDDLY TOY……. My list would resemble this only not quite as glamorous…..washing, ironing, dusting, DH’S TROUSERS, finish sewing curtains, knit GS2’s baby clothes, DH’S TROUSERS, walk round the block, etc. etc…… I feel tired out just thinking about it. BUT, I had a shower, washed my hair, ironed some clothes, had a joke with the ASDA delivery man, put the weekly shopping away and cooked the meals :)….steering well clear of DH’S TROUSERS…..they still need mending and ironing. Now, where’s that CUDDLY TOY……..?
MOOD = GOOD 🙂
